The Tsetlin machine is our tool for Green and Democratic AI. It provides a fundamental shift from deep learning to logic-based machine learning. Our algorithm uses so-called Tsetlin automata to learn patterns with logical rules. The logical reasoning is easy for humans to understand, making the Tsetlin machine transparent. In this way, the Tsetlin machine introduces the concept of logical interpretable learning, where both the learned model and the learning process are easy to follow and explain. The combination of finite automata and logical rules is also particularly suited for cutting-edge hardware solutions, enabling nano-scale intelligence, ultra-low energy consumption, energy harvesting, and unrivaled inference speed.
